Arrest Made in Murder Case


Twenty-one-year-old Armando Gomez has been booked as an accessory to a felony in connection with the murder of a heartland man.

Gomez was booked into the Douglas County Department of Corrections while police continue investigating the death of 39-year-old Peter Barges.

Mr. Barges was found dead in the driveway of his home at 71st and Lake early on the morning of Thursday, January 22. His young son reportedly heard a commotion and found his father on the ground.

Investigators have not elaborated on any possible connection between Gomez and Barges and they have not said if any other arrests are imminent.

The Barges family has been offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
